The energy efficiency rating scale was revised in 2021 to make it clearer and more future-proof. The new classes range from A to G and replace the old A+, A++, and A+++.

LED luminaires that are now rated F or G often used to be A+++ – their technology hasn't deteriorated. The scale has simply become significantly stricter. Currently, only highly specialized LED spotlights with cold, uninviting light achieve classes A to D.

Homely LED lights with warm light, dimmability, and high color rendering almost always land in the E, F, or G ratings. This isn't due to poor efficiency, but rather to deliberate lighting quality. The difference in electricity costs is often only €3–4 per year—even with daily use.

This is the most important question before buying, as size confusion is the most common reason for returns of the Learis. As a rule of thumb: the light should be about 2/3 the length of the table. For a dining table 140–160 cm long, we recommend the 3-light version (90 cm), and for tables 180–200 cm and longer, the 4-light version (120 cm). Regarding the lamp head size: M (40 x 4 cm) appears slimmer and more discreet, while L (60 x 6 cm) is significantly larger and has a strong presence in the room – L often looks smaller in photos than it actually is. If in doubt: simply stick a piece of painter's tape of the appropriate length to your ceiling – this helps enormously in judging the size. If you are unsure, we recommend size M rather than L.

The Learis is a directional pendant lamp: its light heads direct the light downwards onto the table. This creates a beautiful, focused table light and a great look – but it doesn't illuminate the entire room and leaves people sitting at the sides of the table in a bit of semi-darkness. If you're primarily looking for general room lighting, it's best to combine the Learis with an additional ceiling or wall light. It's not designed to be the sole light source in a room.

With up to 1072 lm (4-light) or 804 lm (3-light), the Learis is designed for cozy table lighting – not maximum brightness. Since the light is dimmable and adjustable from 2200–6000 K, you can flexibly adapt the ambiance. If that sounds too dim: The L size (60 x 6 cm) has a higher light output than the M size, and a lower mounting position brings the light closer to the table. For very large dining tables over 220 cm or open-plan kitchen-living areas of approximately 30 m² or more, we recommend supplementing with additional light sources.

You can also control the light using only the remote control – however, we recommend connecting it to the Tuya or Smart Life app .
