Accessibility statement

As of: October 12, 2026

LUMIÈRE Design GmbH wants to make its online shop accessible to everyone, regardless of disabilities or assistive technologies used. This statement applies to the online shop at lumiere-design.de and the country domains lumiere-design.ch, lumiere-design.nl, lumiere-design.pl, lumiere-design.it, and lumiere-design.eu. It fulfills the information requirements under Section 14 and Annex 3 of the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG).

Description of the service

Through our online shop, you can view, compare, and purchase lights and accessories. The shop includes:

  • product overviews and a search with typo detection
  • product pages with images, videos, technical specifications, and variants (e.g., color, size)
  • a shopping cart and an ordering process, including as a guest without a customer account
  • various payment methods, a customer account, and a returns portal
  • Contact options by email and product advice

Here’s how an order works: You select a product and, if applicable, a variant and add it to your shopping cart. You then enter your delivery address at checkout, select a payment method, and complete the order. You will then receive an order confirmation by email.

How we meet accessibility requirements

We follow the European standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, conformance level AA. We have implemented the following measures:

  • Structure: The pages are organized with headings, lists, and landmarks. Each page has exactly one main heading.
  • Keyboard navigation: All essential functions are accessible by keyboard. A “Skip to content” link leads directly to the main content, and keyboard focus is visible. Hidden elements in sliders are skipped when tabbing.
  • Screen reader: Buttons, links, and form fields have clear labels, images have alternative text, and purely decorative images are marked accordingly.
  • Zoom and display: On mobile devices, content can be enlarged using pinch gestures and remains usable at 200% magnification without horizontal scrolling.
  • Forms: In the checkout, input errors are displayed directly next to the affected field and marked for assistive tools.
  • Guest checkout: It is possible to place an order without registering.
  • Data-saving media: Videos load only when they enter the visible area.

Additional assistive tool: Accessibility menu

You can adjust the display to suit your needs using the accessibility icon at the edge of the screen, for example:

  • font size and text spacing
  • contrast, brightness, and grayscale
  • a larger mouse pointer, highlighted links, and a reading guide
  • a read-aloud function
  • ready-made profiles for visual impairments, dyslexia, ADHD, and seizure-safe browsing (stops animations)

The menu supplements the measures listed above but does not replace them. The shop can also be used without the menu and with your own assistive tools (e.g. screen reader, screen magnifier, browser zoom).

Status of compliance

The online shop is partially accessible. The following content is not yet fully accessible. We are working to resolve these issues:

  • Color contrasts: Some elements, such as discount notices and shipping information displayed in green, do not yet meet the required contrast ratio.
  • Font size: On mobile devices, some informational text (e.g. delivery times and warranty information) is displayed smaller than 12 pixels.
  • Product gallery: The image gallery on product pages cannot yet be operated fully with the arrow keys.
  • Very narrow screens: At a screen width of 320 pixels, individual areas of the product page may extend horizontally beyond the screen.
  • Moving content: Some videos and sliders play automatically and cannot be paused directly everywhere. The “Seizure-safe” profile in the accessibility menu stops animations.
  • Orientation: Category pages do not yet have visible breadcrumb navigation, and filtering is currently possible only by price.
  • Language: A pop-up window for selecting a country sometimes appears in English.
  • Third-party content: Embedded content from external providers, such as customer reviews, review seals, payment providers, and the checkout provided by Shopify, is not entirely within our control and may not be fully accessible.

If you encounter any of these barriers, we will be happy to assist you and, if necessary, also accept your order by email or telephone.

Preparation of this statement

This statement is based on a self-assessment. We reviewed the shop on October 6, 2026, on desktop and mobile devices, including automated tests (axe-core, Lighthouse), keyboard-only operation, and checks at 200% zoom and a screen width of 320 pixels. We partially remedied the barriers found in October 2026. We review this statement regularly, but at least once a year and after major changes to the shop.
