The energy efficiency rating scale was revised in 2021 to make it clearer and more future-proof. The new classes range from A to G and replace the old A+, A++, and A+++.

LED luminaires that are now rated F or G often used to be A+++ – their technology hasn't deteriorated. The scale has simply become significantly stricter. Currently, only highly specialized LED spotlights with cold, uninviting light achieve classes A to D.

Homely LED lights with warm light, dimmability, and high color rendering almost always land in the E, F, or G ratings. This isn't due to poor efficiency, but rather to deliberate lighting quality. The difference in electricity costs is often only €3–4 per year—even with daily use.

"Infinitely adjustable height" means you can freely adjust the hanging height between 10 and 200 cm without any locking points. Adjustment is achieved via a small pin on the ceiling mount – press it in, then pull the cable out or push it in. This can be done both before and after installation. It's easier before installation because the light isn't yet hanging – therefore, we recommend roughly setting the desired height before attaching the mount.

What it isn't: an everyday mechanism that can be conveniently operated by pulling or levering while in use. Anyone looking for a light that can be effortlessly adjusted in height daily – for example, higher or lower depending on the occasion – will not be happy with the Calimera. For such requirements, lights with a true cable pull mechanism are better suited. Some of our pendant lights, such as the Rodos or Fadio, feature a LumiLift cable pull.

As a guideline: 80 cm is suitable for kitchen islands or smaller tables up to approximately 100 cm, 100 cm for tables up to approximately 140 cm, 120 cm for tables between approximately 150 and 180 cm, and 150 cm for tables from approximately 190 cm or long kitchen counters. Important: The Calimera is 5 cm deep and, due to its length, appears quite prominent in rooms with low ceilings (below 240 cm) – like a beam above the table, not a slender rod. In photos taken under studio conditions, it appears more delicate than in a typical living room. A little trick: Stick painter's tape to the ceiling in the desired length and hold a piece of cardboard of the same width underneath – this gives a surprisingly realistic impression of the proportions.

The Calimera is a mood and table lamp, not a room floodlight. Depending on its length, the maximum output ranges from approximately 1,370 lm (80 cm) to 2,800 lm (150 cm). This is pleasantly warm and sufficiently bright for a typical dining table of 140–180 cm above a dark surface. However, it is insufficient for bright, large rooms (from approximately 25 m²) or as the sole light source above an open-plan kitchen. Several customers report that the brightness, even at its maximum setting, falls short of their expectations – this is often because the Calimera is intentionally designed for atmospheric, not functional, task lighting. Those who require maximum brightness should check whether additional light sources are present in the room before purchasing.

Yes, the Calimera is a pure downlight. The light shines exclusively downwards, directed precisely at the surface below. This creates beautiful, focused lighting for a table or work surface, but the surrounding room remains comparatively dark. In open-plan living/dining areas or rooms larger than approximately 20 m², this often leads to the feeling that the room is "divided in two": the table area is bright, the rest is dark. For rooms with dark furniture, dark walls, or without other light sources, the Calimera is generally insufficient as the sole lighting source. If you also want indirect upward lighting, take a look at the Kalea – it combines uplighting and downlighting in a similar, slim design.

You can also control the light using only the remote control – however, we recommend connecting it to the Tuya or Smart Life app .
