Q: Why do LED lights have an energy efficiency class of F or G?

The energy efficiency rating scale was revised in 2021 to make it clearer and more future-proof. The new classes range from A to G and replace the old A+, A++, and A+++. LED luminaires that are now rated F or G often used to be A+++ – their technology hasn't deteriorated. The scale has simply become significantly stricter. Currently, only highly specialized LED spotlights with cold, uninviting light achieve classes A to D. Homely LED lights with warm light, dimmability, and high color rendering almost always land in the E, F, or G ratings. This isn't due to poor efficiency, but rather to deliberate lighting quality. The difference in electricity costs is often only €3–4 per year—even with daily use.

Can uplight and downlight be controlled separately?

No, when you turn on the light, it illuminates both up and down. Separate control is not possible.

Are the bulbs included?

Yes, the light comes with built-in LEDs. We use only high-quality components for our LED components, which guarantee an extremely long service life. Furthermore, all components are covered by our five-year warranty. Should a defect occur, we will repair the light free of charge – without throwing it away. This way, we conserve resources and fulfill our sustainability goals.

What length fits my table – and how much ceiling height do I need?

For a dining table up to approximately 140 cm, we recommend the 100 cm version; for 160–180 cm, the 120 cm version; and for tables from approximately 200 cm or long kitchen islands, the 150 cm version. Important: The length refers to the light fixture itself – the ceiling mounting rail is an additional 60 cm long and is visible separately. Regarding the overall height: The Kalea hangs 10–200 cm from the ceiling, with approximately 60–80 cm above the table surface being ideal for typical table lighting. With a ceiling height below 240 cm, the light can appear oppressive at its maximum length. A quick test: Stick painter's tape to the ceiling in the desired length – this gives a surprisingly good sense of the proportions in the room.

The hanging height can be continuously adjusted via a cable pin on the canopy, both before and after installation. There is also a fine-adjustment screw on the light fixture itself – this requires briefly loosening it with a screwdriver. This is not a tool-free quick-release mechanism: the height is adjustable, but not by finger pressure like a pull-cord system. If the cable is difficult to pull out after installation, please keep the locking pin pressed while pulling – otherwise, the mechanism will jam.
